While Yale Law School`s small size—about 200 in each entry class—requires a selective admissions process, we are committed to a holistic review of every application we receive. Overall, the Faculty of Law seeks the most promising students in terms of professional and academic distinction. We strive to admit students who can both perform very well academically and make a significant contribution to the law school community. Financial aid for international students is very similar to financial aid for domestic students: Yale Law School covers 100% of proven financial need with a combination of loans and scholarships. If your high school provides expected results for external exams such as the School Baccalaureate, International Baccalaureate, and other international or national exam organizations, these must be submitted by your school along with your transcript or semester report. Admission is generally only possible for individuals considering a career in law and academia. The LL.M. program at Yale Law School is not designed to prepare students for the New York State Bar exam.
The Yale School of International Law School program offers a range of traditional courses, smaller seminars, and clinical/experiential learning opportunities, ranging from traditional courses in international law, commercial transactions, constitutional or criminal law to clinical offerings in immigration, human rights, the environment, and foreign policy. You must submit LSAC transcripts from each college or university you attended, including schools you attended for graduate or professional studies. Even if a school includes summary data about courses offered by another school in its transcript, an official transcript must be submitted by each institution. Yale Law School strongly encourages applicants to submit transcripts through LSAC that reflect all courses taken up to the time of application, and continues to encourage applicants to submit updated transcripts when additional courses are completed. We recommend that you allow LSAC at least six weeks to process a transcript. Detailed instructions can be found on the LSAC transcripts website. You must register and pay for LSAC`s LL.M. Credential Assembly Service (CAS) at least four to six weeks before the deadline for your first law school application. LSAC takes approximately two weeks to process a transcript or letter of recommendation in the United States from the time it is received.
Transcripts from countries other than the U.S. Institutions may take longer to process. LSAC will not send us your law school report until and if all official transcripts are made. Only admitted students are required to submit the final report, which includes the final high school grades and exam grades. Prominent foreign legal thinkers come to Yale each year to teach students about international and foreign law. Students with foreign law degrees come to the law school for graduate studies that will help them become leading intellectuals in their home countries. If applicants are from outside the United States, they must have graduated or expect to work with a high rank from a law school or law school with substantially equivalent standards to U.S. law schools prior to the summer prior to their scheduled enrollment in Yale Law School.
