Former TROY students who have enrolled at another institution since their last semester/semester of enrollment must submit a new application for admission. Transcripts from these institutions must also be submitted to www.troy.edu/applications-admissions. These requirements reflect the information contained in the 2020/2021 academic catalogue. Please select your admission type below to view the specific admission requirements: The application must be submitted at least three months prior to the proposed semester at Troy University. The admissions process begins with an online application at www.troy.edu/applications-admissions/ questions can be directed by calling the International Admissions Office at 1-334-670-3335. This means that the school is an almost open host school. They accept almost all students, so in most cases you only need to submit one application to be accepted. But if you don`t meet all the requirements of the application, you`ll be one of the few people who gets rejected. Any student whose first language is not English must submit an official grade report for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Testing System (IELTS) or ACT Compass ESL exam. Students who do not meet the minimum English proficiency requirements set for the TOEFL, IELTS or ACT Compass ESL test will be placed at the appropriate level in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program at Troy University. The ESL program is available on the Troy campus. Placement in English as a second language or in academic courses is based on the achievement of the threshold scores identified on this test.

Students with academic results at the university who have not been enrolled for two years (from the last semester/semester for which grades were obtained) must submit a new application for admission to www.troy.edu/applications-admission. The college will review your academic profile to ensure you are qualified. For applicants who do not meet the academic requirements, the chances of admission decrease significantly, regardless of their strength elsewhere. Incoming students should contact the Enrolment Management Office for information on revisions or additional requirements in the admissions process. A conditionally admitted student whose academic performance results in exclusion from the program may apply for readmission to the university after a period of 12 months through the Conditional Appeal Board (CAB) specific to the campus where the initial conditional admission was granted. Upon approval of readmission as a conditional student, at the end of an additional semester of 12 to 24 credit hours at Troy University, the student will receive unconditional status with an overall GPA of 2.0. Any conditional student who does not achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.0 after completing the additional 24 semester credit hours at Troy University will be removed from the program. Students who have transferred to regionally accredited universities after leaving the program and wish to return to Troy University must apply for admission as a transfer student through the Enrolment Management Office. An ESL placement test is administered for admitted students who do not satisfy English proficiency for undergraduate and transfer students. Official digital transcripts must be submitted via: transcripts@troy.edu Troy University accepts both the old SAT-1 and the realigned SAT results. Realigned SAT results are tests performed after March 2016 and specified as RSAT in the following requirements. Conditional admission must be released on the campus or site where conditional admission is granted. Students who enroll in this classification must provide all official transcripts from previous institutions attended by the end of the first semester of enrolment. After evaluation of all relevant documents, a decision will be made on regular admission to the university. Students who do not meet the admission requirements for undergraduate studies cannot enroll for subsequent semesters or semesters. ESL advanced students may take academic courses at the same time as ESL courses if they meet the specific criteria of the ESL Student Handbook. Students who achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 in each non-ESL course and 3.0 or higher in ESL courses may be fully admitted. Any “advanced” student who does not gain admission within his/her first semester should retry part-time academic/part-time ESL enrollment in the following semester or take ESL courses only, at the discretion of the ESL Director. A student who is currently enrolled at another institution and has a good academic reputation may want to study at TROY and return these credits to their home institution.

All first-year applicants who graduate from accredited high schools must provide an official transcript showing graduation and at least 15 Carnegie units of three or more units in English. Of the units presented, 11 must take academic courses. The English internship for non-native English language applicants aged 21 or older is not required to submit ACT/SAT scores for university admission. The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree may be considered for admission to university. A student who is enrolled at another institution and who is struggling academically may want to study at Troy University and then return to the home institution.

The student must apply as a temporary student with the appropriate temporary authorization. To complete this process, students who wish to register at the Troy Campus must submit the completed medical history form. Students granted temporary admission must request that official transcripts from Troy University be sent to the home institution. This action should not be confused with the “readmission” guidelines under academic regulations, which refer to students who have been “suspended” from the university – on page 22 of the current undergraduate student catalogue. Students can move from audit to credit or credit to audit within the specified deposit/addition period in the first week of classes, a period that gives students the flexibility to switch classes without academic or financial inconvenience. English Proficiency Requirements for Admitted Students The conditionally admitted student may carry a maximum course load of 14 credit hours per semester (seven hours per semester) for a maximum of 24 hours of work at Troy University., Concurrent enrollment in the semester and each semester cannot exceed 14 hours. Students can audit any Troy University course by providing an audit at the time of enrollment. No credit will be granted, no hour attempts will be earned, and fees will be calculated based on the hourly rate of audit credits. Verification hours are not counted towards the maximum or minimum credit debit limits and no credit is earned.

Transferee candidates receive unconditional admission if they are in good standing at the last college attended and have an overall GPA of 2.00 (4.00 scale) or better for all college/university assignments attempted. Technical and development/renovation work is not taken into account in determining the weighted average. Applicants who have been suspended for any reason from the last institution they attended must be eligible to return to that institution before being considered for admission to Troy University. There are no regulations related to admission for transferred students. Candidates who do not meet the unconditional eligibility requirement, who have significant potential for success, and who may have overcome legitimate and extenuating circumstances may be admitted by contacting the Associate Vice-Chancellor for Registration Management or the Commissioner. Unclassified admission allows a student to enroll in their first semester/semester of enrollment at the university without submitting transcripts and/or test results. The submission of the application for authorisation is required. In addition, students applying for this status must provide one of the following as proof of military status at the time of application: If a student meets regular admission standards and has completed college-level courses at a non-accredited college, the student may be provisionally credited.
